David De Gea has officially left Manchester United after 12 years with the club.

The Spanish goalkeeper expressed his gratitude to the fans in an emotional farewell message on social media

De Gea joined Manchester United in 2011 and became the club's longest-serving player in the current squad

His contract with United expired on June 30, and despite negotiations, an agreement to extend his stay couldn't be reached.

Manchester United views De Gea's departure as an opportunity to evolve the squad.

The club is considering several options to fill the No. 1 goalkeeper position, including Andre Onana from Inter Milan and Dean Henderson

De Gea amassed nearly 550 appearances for Manchester United during his tenure.

He joined the club during the era of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
